Everton defender Tarkowski: Branthwaite calm about Man Utd rumours

James Tarkowski says Everton teammate Jarrad Branthwaite is taking transfer speculation in his stride.

The defender is being linked with Manchester United this month.

Tarkowski told the Liverpool Echo: It doesn't bother him. I've met his parents briefly once but I imagine the way they brought him up, he's a very cool, calm, relaxed lad.

He just enjoys playing football and playing really well. It's a joy to play next to him."

He added: I remember being a young lad and having an experienced player beside me and now the shoe is on the other foot, I'm the older, experienced head with the young lad beside me and he's been incredible. I think he's got every tool possible to be one of the best around and he's already showing that.

He's physically great, technically very good on the ball, calm, composed and reads the game well. He wants to put his head on it and has scored some important goals.

He's doing everything you want from a top centre-half and it's a pleasure for me to play beside him week in, week out."
